Bangles makeover

There were bangles which i was so done with, i actually over used them. Hence wanted to change them a bit.. no a lottt :D

This is a very simple 'makeover' so to say.
All you need are bangles and some woollen threads (you can use lace as well, but they might turn out to be a bit itchy)

First, tie one end of the thread to the bangle

Then turn on the radio :P coz this is going to take a while. wind the thread around the bangle. make sure its tight and closely set

When you are done, tie the end

I made a few black and white ones

Further, you can also do some bead work on them. You can innovate it as you like. I am going to use a cowrie shell to bring these three together (boho look :D). Cowrie shells are my most fav embellishment.

Strike a pose ;)

Made another one with a 'hollow on top' bangle and then hung a broken part of my necklace (chic look :D)

Now is the time for a makeover to turn this old and jaded bangle into a cool one.

Used denim fabric and some fabric glue to do that

Jhola : To a T

Braids! how I love them these days. Am trying to grow my hair long, just to make braids :P So it is quite evident that i incorporate a little braiding action in kavisto. I have a Tee from my super skinny days, since i don't /can't use it anymore i decided to make a jhola of it. Its turquoise in colour and has some design in white on it.

First i made a braid of some white fabric from my stash:

Then i cut the Tee into this shape:

Used white fabric for making the inner lining of the bag. After a lot of sewing joined the two opposite sides of the Tee keeping the braid end in between. Since god lies in details ;) made a pocket on the inside of the jhola with the sleeve that i had cut off:

one on the outer side with the remains of the neckline:

And finally, made a little deco on the top:

Done (weird lighting is making the bag look blue)!

Resolutions update

Like every new year, this year too had its share of resolutions 'documented' on my other blog(here)
Here are the updates:-

1) Avoid negative people - Bingo!

2) Use more of natural products
- Am on the right track, hmm, sort of :P

3) Give up tea for the 70th time - this is the toughest, not that i am a tea addict or something, i gave it up for a day and then succumbed to the temptation on the next day :( and the cycle continues

4) Become a professional cartoonist - the only thing that is 'maintained' or true to this resolution is my initial reaction - "yeah, right" (though it has gathered full steam as a hobby. see it here)

5) Start my own Etsy store - ha ha ha, someday for sure

6) Have more patience -

Can you handle it, Jute?

This jute bag had a handle which looked like a thick skipping rope :-| it was, lets say, not very aesthetic. I still went ahead and bought it coz, well, i really like jute. Am in a sort of sew-a-thon from today, too many things to make, will post some. On top of that my machine gave me a mild heart attack today :D

Anyways, I removed the 'rope' and modified the bag with a new piece of fabric.

Then

A simple equation of sew and tie!

Mobile cover

Mummy wanted me to make a mobile cover for her, hence i used these:

Sewed the lace on the denim and made the cover, added press button at the top and finally added some deco. Mummy liked it!

Presenting... the mobile cover

Give me a pose :D

Check mate

Had some checkered fabric with me, wanted to make some sort of an accessory with it.

Used these:

First, made a rose with the fabric, then sewed the string behind it and closed the back with the circular piece of fabric.

Finally, put a safety pin on its back:

This can be used on a top,

on jeans,

or on a bag.

Belt it

Am going to stitch a brown top soon (?!)so decided to make a belt to go along with it.
This chain belt has been with me forever, its time for it to change :P

used the following:

first, removed the buckle and cut the extra loops, then ran the satin ribbon through the belt loops

Then made a bow, added the button at the centre and attached it to one end of the belt.

done!
